Welcome to our May Newsletter. I know I am getting more wordy but
this new stuff really excites me!!.
We have added 3 new unique videos: A complete
video (10 minutes long) of the Rocket Rods. This
was the attraction that replaced the PeopleMover in 1998. The Rocket
Rods closed in 2000. The second video is of the Midget
Autopia. This is the only video I
have ever seen of it. As far as I know Midget Autopia does not appear even in the
Disney promotional videos. And the third video is of the mobile-Animatronic
that Disney has been testing. This one was at Disney's California
Adventure. The technology is interesting but what is most unique is
toward the end of the video you see the Animatronic having technical difficulties.
See if you can figure out at what point the technical problems begin.
AUDIO, AUDIO, AUDIO due to a kind
DLDHistory member Gina Draker, we have added a 17 minute audio file of
the complete backstory of Mine Train Through Natures
Wonderland! This fills in some of the questions I have always
wondered about the attraction. I think you will find it interesting
also. Gina has also let us have 2 audio clips from the Disney Gallery.
These are the music that is played in the gallery. Close your eyes
while listening to them and you are in the Disney
Gallery. We now have over 4 hours of Audio files!
VIDEOS, VIDEOS, VIDEOS, Over 150,000 people have viewed our sample videos on 15 different
video sites! We now have over 110 videos available along
with 4 full length A Day At Disneyland videos. We have converted all
of our videos to Flash format and making most of the videos available
for download in MPEG format. Since our re-write of the site is not
complete we are extending our offer of up
to 20% discount on GOLD account upgrade so you too can enjoy these videos.
Take a look at our progress in the complete redesign of the site.
We have a capture below. At some point during May we will
give our Gold members a chance to Beta test the new design and let us
know their thoughts. This is the first complete re-write of
DLDHistory.com in over 3 years. And it is the first time we are beta
testing the design. We also have Gina Draker working her fingers to
the bone to design us a series of new logos that you will be able to
vote on your favorite.
We have added the most unique backstage photo ever! Two of the Submarine
Mermaids helping each other with their costume. This is a very
rare photo from 1967. We have also added a backstage photo of the
original Skyway buckets in storage.
Did you know that there use to be a heliport at Disneyland? United
airlines ran a shuttle. It
allowed people to fly by helicopter from LAX directly to Disneyland.
We have a couple of photos of those helicopters.
We are working on a few new projects for next month: More
attraction videos. Complete re-write of all of our pages for a
more consistent look and feel. Also a change to the navigation of the
site. Watch for our June Newsletter for
more information.
I hope you enjoy our latest newsletter and I want to say a big
THANK YOU to all that have made a donation, you are the ones that
allow DLDHistory to continue growing
