Fort Wilderness (June 1956- November 2002 )
The last outpost of civilization at the end of Wilderness Trail. Inside the stockade the Cannteen and Trading Post is stocked with pelts, guns knives, and Indian craft. In Regimental Hdqrs., Davy Crockett and George Russell, US Army Scouts are reporting to Maj. General Andrew Jackson during the Cherokee Indian Campaign in 1813. The blockhouses are ready with rifles..There is a secret escape tunnel to Wildernhess Landing

In 2007 Disney demolished the original 1956 Fort Wilderness due to long-neglected termite and weather damage. A new Fort Wilderness was constructed; however, instead of being constructed with authentic hand-hewn logs, it was built with standard milled lumber. The new Fort Wilderness is not accessible to guests, and will instead house break rooms for island Cast Members and performers.
