The biggest change in Disneyland's newly remodeled Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor is better crowd control – and that's not a small thing.

The theme park as reopened the Main Street USA shop and the adjoining Penny Arcade/Candy Palace as it prepares for the rapidly approaching summer tourist season.

Gibson Girl's kitchen area has been pushed back, making room for a four-row switchback. The counter is a row of cash registers in front of a kitchen resembling a drug store soda fountain.

To the right of the cash registers is a window to an area where the staff makes waffle cones and dip them in sprinkles.

Gibson Girl has added Coca-Cola and Orange Fanta floats to its menu in addition to traditional root beer floats. All of them cost $4.59 and come in plain plastic cups with bubble lids that have a hole big enough for a straw but not a spoon.

Gibson Girl still serves three sundaes, hot fudge chocolate chip cookie for $5.99 and mint chip and strawberry for $5.69.

Eight flavors of ice cream, plus rainbow sherbet, are available by the scoop in cups and cones for $3.69-$4.69. Two scoops cost $4.19-$5.19.

The ice cream parlor is sponsored by Dreyer's and doesn't give discounts to annual pass-holders.

Esmerelda, the mechanical fortune teller, still guards the entrance of the Penny Arcade, which still has a handful of old-time games but now better displays the enticing and somewhat pricey treats of the Candy Palace. Guests can drop a penny into a peep show to see a Charlie Chaplin comedy and two steps away drop $4.95 on a single decorated strawberry.

Caramel and decorated apples are now located on a back wall, in a display case near the Coca-Cola Refreshment Corner. Some of them cost as much as $9.99 and are a feast for the eyes if nothing else.
